How can we stop … when it is already going?
I am a 16y / o, and have been taking classes since she was 4y / o. I am an avid lover of horses and I have 8 horses, We just got a new Morgan horse called Dandy. Dandy is 5 1 / 2 y / o, and is broke to his sled unit and transport but is also broke to ride. He has the sweetest character ever, but it gets very hot under the Saddle when galloping. He does very well walk trot. we had a veterinary check on his teeth and his spine, and even frightened him. But this is the best part, when you get it at a canter, moves progressively the full blown gallop and not stop until he's ready, it gets even a few dollars very well and stands in the here and there. Is your training? or am I doing something wrong? I do not want to be aggressive. PS He never acts like this in his harness. Also, if I was going to be a little Hasher, what type should I use? im ported with a "Myler" Barrel Dee Bit. Harsher bits will not solve education problems. Why not try to wind or making it before you ride it. Get some of that excess energy out. Transitions are too large. Canter-trot, gallop, trot, walk, jog, walk, trot. Just a few steps. If it becomes strong, back up one or two feet and try again. If it persists, try a small stage where they just can not get the space to build your speed constantly. If none of these works – try circles. Every time you take, put it in a circle. Varying the size – large, medium and small. Get your hands a bit, open your hand inside (as if you it opens a door), and push your leg into it to bend in the ribs. If the circles do not work and are afraid that will not stop – long reign pulley! Grab the reign off with the leverage in his chair, cushion, hair, nothing. Then slide your right hand as much as you want, and begin to withdraw until it stops. Once you do, the rewards and allow him to have his head again. Remember, he's young. Just because he broke to ride, does not mean a horse is over. If you have a coach you trust, perhaps asking them to take a look. Good luck!

Trail Riding $14.41 Hitting the open trail on horseback is the ultimate dream vacation for many people. And for the vast majority of established riders who do not compete or show horses, trail riding brings the greatest pleasure, whether on a three-mile loop around an open field or a twenty-mile trek up a rugged mountainside. A dependable, well-trained horse is the key to a fulfilling trail experience. In Trail Riding, author Rhonda Hart Poe offers fundamental instruction and detailed advice on every aspect of preparing for and executing a pleasurable trail ride. This begins with selecting the most appropriate horse for the task and goes on to cover training, conditioning, trailering the horse, and selecting tack and gear with an eye on safety. No other book delves into such depth on how to prepare for and handle different types of terrain and potential obstacles and tricky situations, such as turning around on a narrow trail, stepping over fallen logs, side passing, and dealing with unpredictable distractions. Whether a rider is interested in a quiet afternoon ride or a five-day backwoods endurance event, Trail Riding is essential reading. Promoting the whole adventure, from start to finish, Poe also includes amazing trail stories from riders across North America, as well as a resource listing great trail rides. |
